SEID Plants Coral and Mangroves in "Real Action for Earth" (Indonesia)

Participants with some of the 300 coral fragments for planting

Celebrating the planting of 1,000 mangrove seedlings

On April 24, 2013, P.T. Sharp Electronics Indonesia (SEID) celebrated Earth Day 2013 (April 22) under the slogan "Real Action for Earth" by planting coral fragments and mangrove seedlings.

The activity took place on Pramuka Island, north of Jakarta, in cooperation with coral reef protection NPO Terangi. The more than 40 participants included SEID employees and local junior high school students. Indonesia is renowned for its rare coral reefs, but recent years have seen increasing reef destruction due to factors such as pollution and rising seawater temperatures. Participants on the day strove to make the coastal ecosystem healthier by planting 300 fragments of 10 coral species and 1,000 mangrove seedlings, and collecting about 50 kilograms of litter.

SEID strongly believes in protecting the precious nature with which humans coexist, and it vows to continue working with young people in environmental protection and educational activities.
