On March 29, Sharp participated in the events of "Earth Hour 2014" all around the world.

The "Earth Hour" is an international event for stopping global warming, sponsored by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the world largest environmental conservation group. The event invites people around the world to turn off lighting for an hour (between 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm local time) on the last Saturday in March, in order to promote the activity to prevent global warming. (This year, 162 countries and regions, the largest in number so far, joined the event.)

Sharp bases carried out various activities for the employees and customers to be more aware of such an effort to stop global warming in this occasion.

In addition to the announcement of the event on the Web page, posters, and through internal mailing system, Sharp prepared an original message to communicate how important such an effort to prevent global warming and asked for cooperation. In China, employees used public transportation instead of their own cars for commuting. At the 8:30 pm, switching off at home and billboard lights started in Japan, and the movement spread through Asia and Europe.

Sharp is determined to continue participating in the activities to stop global warming in the future.
