Local Kids Experience Bamboo Shoot Dig (Japan)

Students from Tsuda Elementary School

Students from Tokida Elementary School

The Mie Plant of Sharp Corporation owns a bamboo groove in its precinct, and offers a bamboo shoot dig lesson for students from the local elementary schools during the season every year. This year, on April 28, 54 students from Tsuda Elementary School, and on May 8, 37 students from Tokida Elementary School joined the event.

After a Mie Plant employee gave a lecture on the growing process of bamboos and the digging procedure, they went into the groove and worked for about an hour. It is quite a job getting bamboo shoots out of the ground, but the pupils worked together. Great cheers from those pupils went up here and there whenever they succeeded.

The Mie Plant will continue to cherish a good communication with the local communities.
