Mie Plant Holds Beautification Activity of Sana River (Japan)

This year, participants mow mainly around the shore protection area.

On June 14, 2014, Sharp's Mie Plant (Taki Town, Mie Prefecture) held a beautification activity of the Sana River running through the local Taki District of Mie Prefecture.

This activity was originally started by the Mie Plant alone in 2004, in order to make the Sana River a place where the local people can relax and enjoy. The first cleaning activity held gathered only 28 participants. However, the activity became wider each time in the area. In 2009, the local residents led in forming the Sana River Beautification Association. Currently, the activity gathers more than 100 participants, and the Mie Plant is part of it as a group member.

This year, the total 125 people including employees from the Mie Plant and local residents and companies joined the event of mowing and cleaning. A local participant happily said, "The Sana River is much cleaner compared with the time when the activity was held for the first time."
