Mie Plant Cuts Grass and Cleans to Support Local Community of Elderly Residents (Japan)

On June 21, 2014, Sharp’s Mie Plant in the Taki District of Mie Prefecture held a cleanup activity to tend the environment of a local community of elderly residents in the town of Odai. In a mountainous region of the town, where depopulation and graying are advancing, it is difficult to clean up roads and gutters only by the local residents though they used to do so together. Consequently, degradation of the environment has become a serious problem as garbage and dirt accumulate there.

To improve the situation, Mie Plant started to support the community of the Uratani region of Odai Town in 2012. In this fifth activity, 38 employees and their family members cut the grass and cleaned the gutters along the meeting place. Though the work was hard, the participants felt rewarded when the residents thanked them for their efforts.
