Three Sharp production bases in Malaysia-Sharp-Roxy
Corporation (M) Sdn. Bhd. (SRC), Sharp-Roxy Electronics Corporation
(M) Sdn. Bhd. (SREC), and Sharp Manufacturing Corporation (M) Sdn.
Bhd. (SMM)-conducted cross audits from July 16 to 19, 2007 to check
Sharp-Environmental Management System (S-EMS) operations at those
sites.
In the past, each Sharp overseas production base
was responsible for internal environmental audits on its own site.
Since fiscal 2006, however, with the aim of further improving the
capability of internal auditors as well as the level of audits at
overseas sites, reciprocal audits have been conducted.
In Malaysia, an audit team made up by eight auditors
from the three sites and observers from Sharp Corporation visited
each site. The audit team thoroughly checked the operation of environmental
facilities and the management of waste and chemical substances at
each site and exchanged views and audit results with site representatives
and with persons in charge of environmental management. Auditors
on the team commented that their participation enabled them to expand
their knowledge concerning audits and to better comprehend environmental
measures taken at other sites.
The cross audits in Malaysia followed ones carried
out in China in September 2006. In fiscal 2007, environmental cross
audits will continue to be conducted at production sites in Asia.
