The plant-based resin paint jointly developed by Sharp and Kansai Paint Co., Ltd. has won Prize for Industrial Technology and awarded by the Japan Society of Color Material (JSCM)*. The awarding ceremony was held on September 12, 2007 at the Tokyo Institute of Technology marking the 80th anniversary of JSCM.

The award is given to skilled techniques that contribute to developments in the color materials industry, which aims to promote and extend scientific and technological knowledge concerning color materials.

After the ceremony, an engineer from Kansai Paint Co., Ltd. gave a presentation on the development and applications of the plant-based resin paint. It attracted audience of representatives from not only the consumer electronics but automobile industries, color material manufacturers and universities.
