Sharp's LN-LW3A1 combination solar-LED lighting module won the Award of Excellence in the 4th Eco Products Awards*. The representative of Sharp accepted the award at the ceremony on December 13.

The judging committee selected the Sharp product for its outstanding energy-saving and environmental benefits. The modules generate and store solar-based electricity in the daytime and then use it to run the energy-efficient LED lighting at night. Independence from conventional power grids means that they are in service even during power outages and natural disasters and that they contribute to reducing CO₂ emissions. And the 100% recyclable storage batteries make this lighting resource efficient.

This is the first Eco Products Award for a solar power product and the second for Sharp following last year's honor for the 52-inch AQUOS.
