On April 3, Sharp companies in China planted trees in 6.6 hectares of reforestation area in Wuqing, Tianjin in cooperation with China forestry agency and the Tianjin forestry bureau.

The eight Sharp companies in China* established Sharp China-Japan Friendship Forest in Wuqing, Tianjin in 2007, through the utilization of Sharp Charitable Fund. They will plant trees every year and create 26.8 hectares of forested area by 2010. This is the second year of the project.

Desertification is advancing rapidly in northwest China, and damage from yellow sand is affecting the lives of people in the Tianjin area. This project is intended to improve the living environment of local residents by increasing the level of greening and reducing damage from wind and dust storm.
