The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named Electronic Manufacturers Recycling Management Company (MRM), a joint venture between Sharp, Panasonic, and Toshiba, winner of its National TV Recycling Challenge.
From January through August 2009, MRM recycled approximately 1,360 tons of TV sets and employed a variety of approaches--including holding special events and establishing 400 collection points throughout the United States--to develop an extensive TV collection network.
The National TV Recycling Challenge, issued in 2009, was part of the EPA's Plug-In To eCycling program, a partnership the EPA established in 2002 with leading consumer electronics companies.
