Sharp Exhibits at Eco-Products 2009 (Japan)

Sharp exhibited its advanced technologies at Eco-Products 2009, Japan's largest trade show of environment-related technologies. The event was held December 10 to 12, 2009 at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center (Tokyo Big Sight) and Sharp introduced its efforts toward realizing a greener society.

On the Solar Stage, Sharp showcased Tokai University's solar car, which was the victor in the 2009 Global Green Challenge, one of the world's largest solar car races. This solar car is equipped with Sharp solar cells boasting high conversion efficiency. On the opening day, Mr. Kenjiro Shinozuka, the solar car's driver, was invited to narrate a special presentation on the race.

Besides introducing its efforts to reduce environmental impact under the new Greenfront Sakai concept, Sharp exhibited its latest energy-efficient technologies. These included the LED lighting product lineup, which features high energy efficiency and a long service life, Sharp's LED AQUOS LCD TV lineup with energy efficiency among the best in the industry, and refrigerators and air conditioners.

Many visitors said they look forward to Sharp business activities aimed at creating a greener society, particularly Greenfront Sakai. Sharp personnel at the show fielded inquiries about Sharp photovoltaic power systems and LED lighting.

On the Main Stage, Sharp presented its environmental efforts in the form of five representative "Sharp Environments." Overhead illumination was entirely from Sharp LED lamps.

Mr. Kenjiro Shinozuka was invited to appear on the Solar Stage to describe how the solar car race unfolded.
