To celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity, Sharp Electronics (Schweiz) AG (SEZ) participated in planting a variety of domestic bushes and shrubs in cooperation with the municipality of Rüschlikon. In doing so, Sharp Switzerland again emphasised the many years of commitment and dedication that Sharp lives up to each and every day to create a better environment, true to its in-house motto: "Many small people, who in many small places, do many small things, can alter the face of the world."
Completely in the spirit of biodiversity, more than 30 volunteer Sharp employees joined forces on May 21, 2010, to vegetate a 400-square-metre strip along the train tracks in a Rüschlikon housing development area. The objective, on one hand, was to make a sustainable contribution to the conservation of biological diversity, and on the other hand, was to increase the quality of life in this particular area.
The employees were divided into two groups: a morning shift and an afternoon shift. Under the expert guidance of specialists and with the help of municipal workers who contributed all of the equipment and working appliances, the SEZ team planted 1,500 domestic plants and 80 bush seedlings such as St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum), common bugloss (Anchusa officinalis) and lilac sage (Salvia verticillata).
