"One-of-a-Kind" Story

1992 ES-BE65 Fully Automatic Washing Machine

Conventional washing machines had a two-layered tub construction to handle the wash and spin cycles, meaning that water and detergent were wasted when they entered the layer between these two.
That's why Sharp developed a single-layer, hole-less tub for a new washing machine that saved about 30% (compared to our previous models) on water and detergent.
The machine also eliminated the problem of mold between the two tub layers coming through the holes in the spin tub and getting stuck on clothes.
The ES-BE65 got high marks as an economical, environmentally-friendly washing machine.
