Sharp Corporation will introduce into the Japanese market four new models in the AQUOS E Series of LCD TVs that deliver Smooth Picture Quality by reproducing subtle color gradations with rich detail and a strong sensation of depth.
The popularity of LCD TVs is growing rapidly and replacement demand directed toward flat-panel TVs is expanding. Consumers are choosing to replace older living-room models by purchasing new TVs with larger screens and higher resolution.
This AQUOS E Series reproduces impressive pictures with a powerful sensation of depth (TV contrast*1: 15,000:1) by increasing the perceived contrast by optimally controlling the backlight brightness and the aperture ratio of the LCD panel to match the video scene being shown. In addition, proprietary 12-bit BDE*2 circuitry controls the LCD panel to reproduce subtle changes in color values (color gradations) for a smooth, natural-looking picture. Together, this high TV contrast and 12-bit BDE color value rendering deliver Smooth Picture Quality, reproducing subtle color gradations from light tones to dark with rich detail and a strong sensation of depth, enabling viewers to enjoy the full video quality promised by digital broadcasting.
In addition, a compact design with a thin profile, narrow bezel and lighter weight achieves a small footprint with a large screen, allowing these models to be installed in the same space as an existing TV while still providing a larger size screen.
Plus, all E Series models feature a 1-Bit Digital Amplifier that reproduces clear, natural sound, and the AQUOS Familink*3, an advanced interface that enables the viewer to comfortably and easily operate an AQUOS Blu-ray Disc Player, AQUOS HD Recorder, and AQUOS Audio System connected to the AQUOS TV.
By constantly pursuing picture quality, audio quality, design and environmental performance as the pinnacle of flat-panel TVs, the AQUOS is aiming to be the "entertainment TV of choice," offering new audio/visual lifestyles in sizes ranging from living room units to personal models.
