Sharp Establishes iDeep Solutions Corporation

Sharp to Expand into Teleoffice Solutions Business

Sharp Corporation has established a new subsidiary in Japan that will focus on providing teleoffice solutions aimed at corporate customers. iDeep Solutions Corporation will begin operations on October 1, 2010.

The new subsidiary will supply TeleOffice, an original system developed by Sharp to provide support for videoconferences and online Web-based conferences via cloud-based services.

Currently, many companies in Japan and overseas are introducing videoconferences and online Web-based conferences as an initiative to make business operations more efficient and reduce costs. TeleOffice enables all participants to share conferencing reference materials using tablet PCs, eliminating the need to distribute hardcopy paper documents. Also, large-screen LCDs with touchscreen capabilities can be placed in the conference room, allowing users to enlarge and reduce the content displayed on the screen, and to use a touch-pen stylus to make handwritten annotations, including text and drawings, directly on the screen image. The result is high-quality collaborative communications with a realistic sense of actually being present. This system will yield dramatic reductions in total costs by integrating all aspects of online meetings—from setting up the conference to actual operation.

With the establishment of this new subsidiary, Sharp is strengthening its efforts to provide solutions for corporate customers. Sharp will work to open up new teleoffice markets and expand business in this area on a global basis.
