Introducing the Sharp Booth at Eco-Products 2011

Sharp Corporation will be exhibiting at Eco-Products 2011, one of Japan’s largest trade shows for environment-related technologies, from December 15 through December 17, 2011 at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center (Tokyo Big Sight).

Under a theme of “Sharp, an eco-positive company—opening a new era in renewable energy with solar power generation,” the Sharp booth will showcase the company’s cutting-edge efforts in this new era.

Exhibit Highlights

1. Eco-Positive Stage
Sharp will introduce its past, present, and future solar power efforts in a video presentation shown on a video wall composed of twelve 60-inch Sharp LCD monitors. The video tracks Sharp’s solar power business from its beginnings 52 years ago in solar cell R&D to its present-day worldwide total solutions business in the field of solar power.
2. Solar Cells for Mega-Solar Projects and Residential Use
This area will feature Sharp’s thin-film solar module, which won the Gold Award at the Good Design Awards 2011 in Japan and which is best suited for use in mega-solar power plants; the Black Solar high-efficiency monocrystalline solar module for residential use, which employs a new structure; and the compound solar cell, which boasts the world’s highest conversion efficiency.*
3. Sharp Eco House—Minimizing Power Consumption in the Home
This area will present an integrated system of dedicated tablets that show how much power is being consumed by individual appliances throughout the home. By giving residents a quantitative look at their home energy consumption, this system can help them save power. Sharp will also introduce its next-generation home energy management system here.
4. Sharp's Environmentally Friendly Products
This area will showcase Sharp products that boast outstanding energy and resource efficiency. Those products include various types of LED lighting for offices and homes, AQUOS LCD TVs, the 70-inch touchscreen LCD monitor, digital MFPs, and Plasmacluster refrigerators, air conditioners, and air purifiers.
5. Resource Recycling through Unique Environmental Technologies
This area will introduce Sharp’s unique environmental technologies that contribute to a resource-recycling society. Closed-loop plastic material recycling, which enables the repeated reuse of plastic, is one such example.
  • * As of November 4, 2011, for non-concentrator solar cells at the research level (based on Sharp survey).
