Introducing the Sharp Booth at PV EXPO 2015

Wide Range of Energy Solutions That Make Energy-Smart Lifestyles a Reality

Sharp Corporation will take part in PV EXPO 2015, Japan’s largest exhibition for the photovoltaic power industry, held from February 25 to 27 at Tokyo Big Sight in Koto Ward, Tokyo. Sharp’s exhibits will include energy-smart lifestyle solutions made possible by BLACKSOLAR residential-use single-crystal solar modules, cloud storage battery systems, and other technologies.

Exhibit Highlights

1.Home Energy Solutions

Under a theme of ‘Smart Energy Solutions’, Sharp will display BLACKSOLAR solar modules, cloud storage battery systems, and cloud HEMS (Home Energy Management System) as ways to use energy effectively in the home.

2.Commercial Solar Power Systems and Building Material-Integrated Solar Modules

1) Solar power system for snowy regions:

On exhibit will be a system that includes solar modules on which the glass substrates are flush with the mounting frame. This design prevents snow from accumulating on the module surface, thereby increasing the power generation output and durability of the entire system.

2) Building material-integrated solar modules:

Under a theme of ‘Our Module Lineup Expands PV Installation’, Sharp will display see-through solar modules that can be installed in a number of applications, including balcony railings and windows. Sharp will also exhibit a system that enables multiple solar modules to be connected in parallel.

3. Global Expansion of Sharp’s Energy Solution Business

1) Energy management system utilizing storage batteries:

Sharp will display an energy management system that utilizes storage batteries. Currently available in California, United States, this system optimally controls storage battery operation in order to reduce the amount of electricity purchased during peak electricity consumption hours, thus helping to reduce overall electricity costs.

2) PV-thermal systems (reference):

For reference, Sharp will display a PV-thermal system that combines photovoltaics and solar thermal energy. Under development in the United Kingdom, this system utilizes thermal heat stored beneath the solar modules while boosting power generation efficiency.
