Cogeneration System-the Largest of its Kind in Japan

This energy-saving, independent, power-generating system the largest of its kind in Japan recycles the waste heat it produces when generating electricity.

Sharp installed a cogeneration system the largest of its kind in Japan which reduces CO2 emissions by about 76,000 tons per year

The cogeneration system, using LNG (liquefied natural gas), produces about 12,000 kW of electricity at Plant No. 1, and about 14,400 kW at Plant No. 2. It also recycles waste heat generated in that process for air conditioning and water heating.

What is a cogeneration system Image:What is a cogeneration system

A cogeneration system is a power-generating system that improves the efficiency of energy use by using environmentally friendly city gas to generate electricity. It also recycles the waste heat generated in that process for air conditioning, water heating, and a steam power system. Compared to supplying energy via a thermal power system, a cogeneration system boasts higher efficiency in energy use and reduces CO2 emissions by about 76,000 tons per year. At the Kameyama Plant, LNG is supplied directly from the gas company to the plant by a dedicated pipeline (extending from Suzuka City to Kameyama City, a total length of 17 km), eliminating the use of fuel-transporting trucks that emit exhaust fumes.
