All of the tremendous amount of water used in manufacturing processes is recycled at the Kameyama Plant. Biotechnologies are used to avoid generating offensive odors during the recycling of wastewater.
Sharp collects 15,300 tons of water per day from Plant No. 1 and 13,000 tons of water per day from Plant No. 2 (based on a monthly input of 30,000 glass substrates). That water is processed biologically and physicochemically according to the conditions of the wastewater. The purified water is then ready to be recycled. During biological processing, offensive odors are produced when chemicals in the wastewater decompose. To efficiently eliminate such odors, exhaust fumes are collected in a biological-processing receptacle and decomposed with biodeodorizing equipment that uses peat moss* from Ishikari River as a filter.
As for organic sludge produced during biological processing, Sharp has installed the latest equipment to control the amount of organic sludge discharged.
