Water Resources

100 Percent of the huge amount of water used in the production of LCD panels is recycled.

An LCD panel plant requires a huge amount of water for manufacturing processes such as the rinsing of glass substrates. The Kameyama Plant is an environmentally friendly plant with a water recycling system that completely purifies wastewater generated during manufacturing processes. Sharp built an on-site wastewater collecting plant that purifies and reuses 15,300 tons of water per day from Plant No. 1 and 33,000 tons of water per day from Plant No. 2 (based on a monthly input of 90,000 glass substrates). Also, in order not to generate offensive odors when processing wastewater, Sharp biodeodorizes wastewater with peat moss from Ishikari River in Hokkaido. The amount of organic sludge from water processing is also controlled with special reducing equipment.

Wastewater Recycling System: Recovering and preserving water resources.
Biodeodorizing: Using peat moss to decompose offensive wastewater odors.
