History

Announced the construction plan.

April 2002  
After the finalized location agreement was signed on April 17, started preparation of the land at the construction site.

September 2002   Photo:September 2002
Held a groundbreaking ceremony on September 10 while continuing the construction work that employed up to 4,000 workers per day.

January 2004   Photo:January 2004?
Completed construction of the plant building and relevant facilities and installed production equipment inside. Started operation in January 2004. (Made the first shipment of AQUOS LCD TVs on January 28).

April 2004   Photo:April 2004?
Held a construction completion ceremony for the Kameyama Plant on April 21, inviting about 90 people from government offices, local concerned entities, and construction companies.

August 2004  
In order to meet the growing demand for large LCD panels used in LCD TVs, introduced the second large LCD panel production line and started its operation in August.

July 2005  
Started construction of the second plant on the same plant site on July 1.

Started the operation of Kameyama Plant No. 2.
January 2007  
Introduced second line at Kameyama Plant No. 2.

The Kameyama Plant won the Grand Prize in the 1st Nikkei Monozukuri Awards. (Sponsored by Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Inc.; the awards ceremony was held on December 13)

The Kameyama Plant won the Sustainable Management Pearl Award, in the environmental management section of the 3rd Japan Sustainable Management Awards. (Sponsored by the Japan Sustainable Management Awards Committee and Mie Prefecture; the awards ceremony was held on June 10)

August 3, 2005 
Ten employees working at Kameyama Plant No. 1 won the Economy, Trade and Industry Minister´s Prize in the 1st Monozukuri Nippon Grand Award. (Sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and presented by the Prime Minister; the awards ceremony was held on August 3)
