Sharp OSA (Open Systems Architecture) allows third-party software developers to create custom applications that link the MFP to software programmes on a server or PC. The MFP’s LCD control panel can thus be used to access and operate these software programmes. Sharp OSA has two Soft Key modules that extend the functionality of the MFP.

Sharp OSA-enabled applications run on your network server and have almost no impact on MFP machine storage capacities and processing speeds. And the use of industry-standard network protocols like XML, SOAP, and XHTML enable rapid development of customised solutions for your business.
Illustrated below is one example of how Sharp OSA can improve workflow. Typically, to manually scan and file a document, users must follow a three-step process: scan the document and save it to the PC, add indexing information, and upload the file to the document management system. With a Sharp OSA application, however, fewer steps are involved since you can scan, index, and upload the file right from your MFP, saving you valuable time.
