High-efficiency electricity generation, high reliability crystal silicon solar cells

Polycrystalline NE-80L5H

Made practicable for the first time, crystal silicon solar cells are the current focus of attention. There are two types of crystal silicon solar cells: single-crystal cells, and polycrystalline cells. Polycrystalline cells are comparatively inferior to single-crystal cells with respect to conversion efficiency, however, as they are capable of being mass produced, they can be provided at a low cost.

Sharp is currently developing modules of both types at the highest level of performance (As of June 4, 2008, a polycrystalline photovoltaic module achieved the industry highest conversion efficiency at 14.4%), and providing a diversified range of products meeting the conditions for a variety of installation locations.
